Pie to Share – NO WAY!
When we go to Florida, I am the odd man out. I know. I’m odd most all the time. In Florida however, I am the one who does not eat seafood – ever. Instead I order the best thing on the menu to be served before the meal or as my entree. Key Lime Pie!
Key lime pie comes in many versions. The best I’ve ever had was in the Keys. It had a cashew crust. Yum! Yum!
Last night we went to a restaurant in Pensacola called Flounders. Ronald said it was the best seafood ever. I wouldn’t know about that, but the place does serve the biggest key lime pie I have ever seen in my life! Three layers of pie backed with delicious, real whipped cream was in a wedge about four and a half inches at its widest. Each layer was about an inch high. I had no idea when I ordered the pie it was that size! Not that it would make a difference. I would have ordered it anyway. My only regret is that my oldest grandson, Wes, was not there with me to enjoy his own piece of heaven.
I took my blood sugar this morning to make sure I wasn’t overdoing the dessert eating. Since it came out 98, I guess I’m safe for now. As much as I would like to say the pie I brought home in the to-go box will last the week, I would be lying. And goodness knows, I do not want to do that!
I guess I could use the old Bible verse, “The time for pie is when it’s passin’.” Oh yeah. I don’t think that is in the Bible, though Ecclesiastes 9:7 does say eat your bread with joy. Not exactly pie, but close enough. Pie would be a nice addition in any translation. Especially if it’s key lime!
Blessings.
