Grand-Dogs and the Prodigal Son
I was awake for quite a while last night planning a three day blog diatribe against egregious customer service, but I decided ain’t nobody got time for that!!! Instead I wanted to write about something that makes me smile.
As you know, I am not a dog person as far as touching them or playing with them. Dog slobbers on a ball grosses me out! But that doesn’t keep me from enjoying watching the rascals as they galumph down the hallway or frolic in the snow. (As long as the snow is not at my house! I don’t like snow much either!)
One of the funnest things to watch is our grand-dog, Jemi. Missy can just say “Granddaddy is here!” and that dog will begin what what our family has always called spazzing. You’d better stand very still until it is out of her system because she will hunker low to the ground and race around everyone’s legs at lightning speed. She’ll run one way, then the other, occasionally jumping up to paw the air all the while making a funny kind of growling / laughing sound. I swear she is smiling.
Ronald drops everything to reach down and pet Jemi, sending fluffy, white hairs over everything! Jemi is ecstatic and has to make a few more circles to show her unbridled delight.
I’ve listened to several sermons lately on the Prodigal Son. Yes, it’s sermon time.
The last time Jemi did that welcoming routine with Ronald, it made me wonder. I thought perhaps the father of the long lost son celebrated with a similar, extravagant, exuberant, utterly joyous display. Celebrating the return of a loved one would certainly make me do a dance of joy!
And people, listen up! We all have time for festive displays of affection. Even in small things, please take time to celebrate life – today!

Psalm 118:24
This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
I think that verse deserves a Whoop! Whoop! and a double Whoop! Whoop!
