Pink Slugs and Video Games

I am not calling people slugs who play games on the computer – though I’ll admit I feel like one when I waste my time that way! (But if I were a slug, I wouldn’t mind being pink!)

There are so many of God’s creations we can learn about on the computer instead of playing idiotic games! In case you are wondering, I am preaching to myself there. I fell off the wagon again last night. Sigh.

The picture of the pink slug above was taken by Michael Murphy on behalf of the NSW NATIONAL PARKS AND WILDLIFE SERVICE. He captured the image of a remarkable creature that lives in an ancient volcano in Australia. Many different sites show the variety of God’s creations.

My cousin, Eddie, shares great pictures of the scenery he loves the best – the wilds of Western America. The crazy old man is older than I am and goes traipsing alone, probably in cowboy boots, on trails that only mountain goats belong on! That being said, he does show the beauty of nature in panoramic views.

His sister, Linda, often captures nature’s power in the lightning crashes of West Texas or in the closeup shots of delicate flowers.

A friend of ours, King, takes beautiful scenes of Georgia and often photographs special star sightings in the night sky.

With each of their posts or the news stories of the magazines, I find something new to learn or study. Most times, there are takeaways from those studies that echo the Truth of God’s Word.

Don’t you roll your eyes at me! You knew I was going to get around to a Preachin’ Alert!

Psalm 95 tells us to sing for joy and come before Him with praises of thanksgiving in music and song. “For the Lord is the great God … in His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land.”  NIV

But one of God’s coolest creations is man. Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

And as this is my confessional/katharses, I guess you can say God expects me to do good works, which I like to think includes studying about His creation. Anything but computer games, right? Argh!

As we say in Georgia, “Have a blessed day!”
