Ignorance is Bliss!
That may be an irresponsible and unwise life choice in most cases but believe me! I have decided that in this particular case, what I don’t know will be to my advantage!
I am gearing up for my knee replacements.
- Spring housecleaning done two months early – check.
- Taxes done three months early – check.
- Exercising extra to strengthen anything that will help me recover – check.
- New jammies for the rehab home – check.
- Getting myself educated about the procedure – UNCHECK!!!
I looked up a few articles about the process that showed drawings of the parts that will be placed inside my legs. Okay. Looked good. Like I told the doctor – I’m tough as nails. I can handle that.
My next step was to educate myself on exactly what will take place on surgery day.
MISTAKE!
You Tube is a great teaching tool. Sometimes.
The video I pulled up started with the doctor holding a shot that looked about the size of a bazooka! When he stuck it in his patient, I immediately clicked the stop button and took five or six big breaths. “I’m not a sissy,” I bravely told myself. I clicked the play arrow. When he sliced the flesh, I was done.
The truth is, I can’t really understand what the doctor studied years to do no matter how many times I watch a You Tube video. I don’t need to know the order in which he and his staff will repair my knees.
I appreciate that God gives some people the ‘blood and guts’ gene. Not that I faint or anything. But just give me some happy juice and put me to sleep until it’s all over. I don’t need to see or know the details.
It’s all about trust. And of course, there is a segue to a Preachin’ Alert.
I can never understand all of God or His ways, but do I gear up daily with His armor? Do I ask for His wisdom and Spirit to guide me? Do I believe He has my best interest at heart? Yes! Yes! And a big AMEN! There’s the daily sermon and the challenge. Short and sweet and can’t be beat!
