First Grammie Rant of the Year!

I can’t follow a recipe or driving directions to save my life, but when it comes to piano playing, I am the ‘correct finger’ czar. Following the composer’s directions is the only way to play!

A note shown on a piece of piano music indicates which key to play and the length of time it is held. There are many other important musical symbols and notations on the page, but there are tiny markings that must not be ignored. Fingering numbers near the notes indicate which finger to use.

Fingering in classical music is very precise. The geniuses who composed these pieces knew exactly which finger was needed on each note. Fingering is intentional and has purpose – fluency and easy transition from one set of notes to another. Not following the fingering results in running out of fingers before you run out of notes!

In the Bible, there are essential truths composed by God – Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and love your neighbor as you love yourself. Beyond that, the Bible is a precise guide filled with truth, intricately fashioned to lead you to a life of peace and purpose.

Paul wrote to Timothy to be kind to everyone, to be patient with difficult people, and always be ready to forgive. He encouraged self-discipline, humility, purity, gentleness, and a good work ethic. Awesome nuggets of wisdom, don’t you think?

Applying these Biblical guidelines will even out the rough places in your life. Find more advice as you study the Scripture.

2 Timothy 3:16 -17 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do. LBT
