Now Where Did I Put That?

This morning, Ronald and I went down to an almost elderly neighbor’s house to help get her Christmas tree and some ornaments down from the attic. But first she wanted to show us a picture she had painted and framed for her daughter’s Christmas present. She had hidden it so her daughter wouldn’t see it beforehand.

But she is like I am. I put things where I’m sure to remember them and then promptly forget that important piece of information. Miss Gracie searched one place then the other as I offered suggestions as to where I would hide such an object. She finally found it in the closet she had previously explored. It was facing backwards, so she was perfectly justified in not finding it immediately.

Several times through the years, I have hidden presents months ahead of time. When the time came, not only did I forget where I put the items, I forgot I had even purchased them!

Which brings me to my current modus operandi and words of wisdom for the day.

If you buy something for Christmas for your kids, just go ahead and give the gifts! Even if it is January 3rd, or March 20th, or August 7th! You’ll save space in a closet, avoid forgetting where you put them, or not giving them at all!

Tomorrow, I’ll share my other excellent gift giving technique. Until then, it will be a surprise!

Blessings

Here’s God’s advice on gift giving.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8

Remember this:

Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion,

for God loves a cheerful giver.
