The Weaving of Life’s Tapestry

BIG TIME PREACHING ALERT!!!

The picture above is a ring I wear on my right, middle finger. Wanna know why? So glad you asked!

The queen of the object lesson is also the lady who has constant reminders about the important things in life. I use all sorts of objects in my house as prayer prompts or encouragements to think about the things of God or to take time to praise God. Like the Armor of God, I clothe myself in certain things-especially jewelry-to set my heart and mind toward Truth.

Today, I was going to a funeral. A well-known pastor, Randy Valimont, died suddenly at the young age of 59. Ronald and I went to honor his influence in our lives. He was Stephanie and Mark’s pastor for many years and a special mentor for Mark.  Randy counseled with our Missy at a difficult time in her life and gave sage, godly advice. He supported her in her pro-life activities and was always a wise voice in our lives.

Because my dad died at age 57, I understand how it feels to mourn the loss of someone who died much too young. As a true blue ‘Daddy’s girl’, I empathize with the three girls who now have lost their father. I didn’t know about the stages of grief at the time and struggled for three years before I realized and accepted the Truth – God always has a plan, and His ways are not our ways. I pray Randy’s family will be much wiser and more godly in their grief than I was.

Today I wore my butterfly earrings to symbolize my belief that there is life beyond this one. For the believer, it is life with Christ for eternity in a place beyond description. Every day, I wear this ring on my middle finger. To me, it means when I put Christ in the center of my life’s activities, He will guide. Just as the lines of metal weave around my finger, I know God is weaving the patterns of my life for His glory. As the Master Designer, He is developing a beautiful, perfect tapestry of my life that only He can see. What I see is the dangling, messy threads of His masterpiece. Do I always understand why things happen? Definitely NOT!

What I do know is this … God is in control, He has a plan, and He loves us.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11NIV

This ring and others I wear are from Dreamland Jewelry. I buy their rings because I am prone to lose expensive stuff, and theirs aren’t expensive. They are of good quality, and I highly recommend them.
