Doppelgangers and Wannabes

 Well, mercy!

Have you ever glanced at yourself in a mirror and you saw your doppelgänger?  This morning, I showered, washed my hair, dressed, and had begun to put on my makeup.

I don’t know if it was my new, multi-focal contacts, the crazy hair, the old-face expression, or the funky, three-way mirror, but I swear! As I glanced at my reflection, I had morphed into Albert Einstein! I gasped and looked again, and thankfully, the similarity had vanished! I continued the process of applying the daily war paint and floofing my hair appropriately.

Though I wouldn’t mind being as smart as ol’ Albert was, I never would have had a chance. My math skills are limited to knowing 2+2=4. Most days, anyway. I have always been a Galileo kind of science gal. I know for fact that anything I hold or is within my reach has a very high probability of becoming a victim of gravity!

As a family, we play conversation starter games. Here’s today’s game. If you could be like a famous person who would it be? What famous person would you want to look like?

My youngest daughter was often ogled because of her resemblance to a young Jessica Alba. Her husband’s doppelganger is Ryan Reynolds. Though Ronald is sometimes compared to Tommy Lee Jones, he says he is more like Schwarzenegger’s body double. Maybe more like his brother in Twins.

Here’s my corny but true wish-alike. When I was young, my hero was Haley Mills. I reveled vicariously in her great adventures and indomitable spunk. Doris Day’s carefully coifed hair, perfect jewelry, and stylish clothing made an impression in my later years. (I was still doing the Doris Day when those around me were doing the Cher!)

In my ‘seniority’, I envision myself more a Mrs. Pollifax or Miss Marple whose funky hats and frumpy clothes remind me of me.

In reality, I see a strong resemblance to Salvador Dali.

Anyway, I know how God sees me – as His child. As my Creator and Redeemer, God sees my heart. In Isaiah, He says He has called me by name and I am precious in His sight! Who needs to worry about wrinkles with that in mind?!

Blessings
