Tree of Life PREACHING ALERT!

The tree of life is significant in the Bible and special to me. Several years ago, I wrote this about the Tree of Life:

The Tree of Life alludes to man’s dilemma from the beginning of time. Every day, we are given opportunities to choose God’s eternity or to question God’s authority. Every day within the framework of free will, we have the opportunity to choose the things that will lead us closer to Christ – or further away. Our choices affect the present and reach into others’ lives for eternity. May we always desire to be guided by the Hand of God and have the strength of will to choose from The Tree of Life.

After an in-depth Sunday School session on the subject, I studied to understand what it meant in my own life. Since that time, I have accumulated some reminders around my house to make me think before I do or say things. This tree was my first that I purchased. After all these years, I just noticed it had a bird on one of its lower branches. In Luke 13:19, Jesus says the Kingdom of Heaven is like the mustard seed that produces a tree that birds will nest in. In Luke 17:21 Jesus speaks of the believer who allows the King of Heaven to be in control that results in a life filled with righteousness, peace, and joy. Sounds like a winner to me!

As I was thinking on choosing God’s way, I thought over my own life. Daddy’s decision to leave the farm and take a factory job had long-term implications for the entire family. It’s neat to see how God lead us as a group and as individuals. As each one of the Sheek children moved into adulthood, I see God’s hand on our lives. The prayers of my parents and grandparents have been answered.

Sometimes, I just like to think on the good things. Today is one of those days.

Blessings
