REMEMBERING WHAT IS IMPORTANT
Mercy! It’s amazing how things I have taken for granted for a hundred years are now things I have to work to remember!
I haven’t sewn very much for nearly two years. I’ve had the same sewing machine for over fifteen. I’ve done a ba-jillion costumes on that bloomin’ thing! You’d think I’d remember how to load a stupid bobbin’!
Not.
I just wanted to mend a few things yesterday. Naturally, they all needed different colored thread. No joke – it took me three tries to remember how to turn the bobbin spool to get it to click into place! Of course, I was thinking about something else at the time – darn multitasking!
I was thinking about the super cool material I bought to make myself a fairy godmother cape for my Disney bounding costume. Have you ever seen those pillows that the sequins go one way then the other? I found light blue, iridescent sequin material, and I couldn’t resist! After all, doesn’t the Bible say, “Time for pie is when it’s passin’?” Yeah, probably not, but the material fell into my cart anyway.
I had gone to the store initially to get material to make my grandson a pirate shirt for his first Disney cruise.
Now here’s a piece of politically correct nonsense that chapped my backside! We’ve always taken plastic swords and old fashioned plastic pistols for pirate nights aboard the Disney cruise. With the crazy world we live in, those are no longer allowed! According to the website anyway.
To get around (defy) the politically correct garbage, I also bought silver material for the blade and black leathery looking material for the hilt. I plan to make everyone in the family their own perfectly worthless, PC swords. It will be interesting to see what the PC police who check the suitcases have to say!
Anyway, I was thinking those things, so I guess that was what made me take a while to remember what I was supposed to be doing.
I tried to find the perfect Bible verse that talks about remembering. There were plenty about remembering God’s love and mercy. I can remember those things pretty easily. Why can’t I remember how to thread that crazy machine?
But then again, maybe my mind is holding on to the more important things in life, eh?
Psalm 78:35
They remembered that God was their Rock,
that God Most High was their Redeemer.
May I do the same, for He truly is!
Blessings. KB
AFTER CRUISE UPDATE: Despite their warning online about no pretend swords or guns, everyone had them but us! The ship store even had pirate stuff for sale! ARGH!!! One more example where following the PC Rules is totally nonsense!
Why have a pirate night if there are no swords for silliness?

Or fierceness?

Or just plain cute?
