MULTITASKING AND THE ILIAD
“Another one bites the dust.”
Yep, at least one or two more of my guardian angels got totally squashed this week. It’s all the fault of that dang multitasking demon.
We had gone up to Alpharetta to spend the day with my youngest grandson. My youngest daughter, Missy, is a first time mom. She’s doing great, and the baby is thriving. I snuggled Dylan most of the day as Ronald and Missy were preparing supper for the local pro-life parenting class.
My Missy has to have her panties in a knot about something, and I’m glad her focus is now on encouraging young moms to keep their babies. So much better than ranting about dishonest politicians which her mother tends to do.
Anyway, we were on our way out. Ronald was helping Mom down the very steep stairs in Missy’s garage. I was watching them to make sure they made it safely. Somewhere in the midst of the process, I forgot to make sure my feet were going where they supposed to be headed. I fell down two steps and squashed the aforementioned guardian angels. I wonder sometimes, do they rotate shifts, or do I get new ones all the time? My friend thinks they are puffy like the Big Hero 6 character and just fluff up again. I’ll ask about that someday.
Anyway, one doctor visit, two sets of x-rays, and a leg brace later, I am once again rethinking my ability to walk and do anything else at the same time.
I certainly have been considering my focusing habits and have put on my to-do list the determination to do one thing at a time. Walk, step by step. Not think, not worry about anything but where my next step will be. Hmm. I’m sure there is a spiritual application there somewhere. But I can’t think about it while I’m walking for sure!
I may not be able to walk without falling and getting hurt but I can try to follow the verse for the day.
Psalm 128:1 I am blessed because I fear the Lord and walk in obedience. (KBH personal paraphrase)
Blessings

NERD ALERT
The phrase, ‘another one bites the dust’ was used in an early translation of Homer’s Iliad, written around 1184 BC! Wow! Something actually older than me!
