LIBERAL NUTJOBS and ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
OFFICIAL GRAMMIE RANT!!!
Well bless my heart. I am on a tear today!
I have to ask first – what form of tear am I?
Is it TERR as in “I am a terror to anyone who crosses my path?
Is it a TARE like a noxious weed cropping up in my life?
Or am I going to TEAR into someone and rip them a new one? That is, rip a new attitude rather than a vulgarity – unless I can’t get my panties out of a knot!
I am not going to say anything that will cause me to be accused of libel.
A month or so ago, we were fitted for Bausch and Lomb Ultra contacts. We were offered a rebate which I should have read more closely. The “Up to $200 rebate it said for a year’s supply. Since the contacts were more expensive than I felt was appropriate, I assumed we would get $200 back for each of us.
Wrong!
You know what ‘assume does to you and me?
Right!
I finally got the right paperwork. I went online to figure out how to claim the rebate. I am required to send pictures of the receipt, the boxes with the UPC code, and the copy of the rebate.
Therein lay the first problem. I do not have the skill or patience to perform that task.
I sent an email to which I did not receive a timely response. My to-do list for the day involved completing this rebate business. I decided to call.
Oh, my! My panties were already in a knot. The conversation with the customer service was enough to send me over the edge.
I gently explained in detail the dulcet tones why I could not comply with the ‘normal’ way to request my rebate. I asked politely if I could mail photocopies of everything in lieu of sending everything via computer.
“I’m sorry. Bausch and Lomb believes in being environmentally responsible. We have no physical mailing address.”
When I less than politely and calmly challenged the stance and questioned the wisdom of that policy for contact users who were elderly and had limited computer skills. After I told him again what I thought, probably not as politely as I should have, I told him to have a great day and hung up.
Would a lawyer be able to construe this to be ageism? ARGH!
As their headquarters are in New York, I should have guessed. As a person who lives where ‘responsible forest management’ provides many useful products for here and around the world, I find the environmental stance irresponsible customer service.
That’s my story, and I’m stickin’ to it!
Actually, adding to it.
I took everything to the eye doctor where the wonderful receptionists took time in their lunch hour to try to help. They got me to a place where I thought I could finish it!
Wrong!
The company said the rebate was not the right one.
The doctor who did my exam called and expressed concern. I tried again on the computer and took the paperwork back to the office. We’ll see.
Because of the sweetness and care I received from the doctor and her staff, my panties are partially unfurled, and I am calmer. Until I have to deal with this again. ARGH!
Blessings anyway.

Psalm 34:17 says when the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.
The trouble is, I am a bawlin’ and a screamin’ to anyone who will listen. Hmm.
Update – A week and a half later and the promised call from the company has still not come through. I think I’ll call again today. Months later – still no word from the company. Surprise, surprise.
