ANOTHER GOVERNMENT CONSPIRACY!
Oh Brother!
I thought Shoney’s buffet was bad with their fat reduction surgeries blaring on the wide screen TV for all to see!
Golden Corral has their own dieting method to deter diners from overeating. Nearly every station lists the food below with the calorie content of each one in big, bold lettering.
Dang it! If I am eating at a buffet, let well enough alone! If I want 12 fried okra instead of 5, let me be! If I want a slice of rich pecan pie instead of sugar-free berry pie, I’ll make my choice in blissful ignorance, thank you very much!
Today I found the truth of it!
Another doctor appointment found us far afield, and we needed to eat out again.
Red Robin in Newnan, GA, is a place with a variety of fancy burgers. The head honchos must have a good sense of humor. In the ladies’ room, the sign on the door read, “Employees must wash hands.” Below was another blurb. “If there are no employees available, wash your own hands.” The sign at our raised table read, “Step down carefully or fall humorously.”
I’ll pass. I fell down stairs last year at Missy’s house. I did NOT fall humorously, hence the continuing doctor appointments.
Anyway …
The full color menu was on the table, so Ronald and I studied it diligently. The attractive pictures guided my choices until I saw the listed calorie counts. Talk about being annoyed! I was one step away from falling into a whole heap of aggravation!
I chose the lesser evil of my preferred burgers and ordered a side salad instead of fries. I’m pretty sure the blue cheese dressing came close to the caloric input of fries but since they didn’t list that, I can assume there were no calories. That’s the rule you know.
When I complained to the waitress about my frustrations with Shoney’s, Golden Corral, and now Red Robin, (humorously of course) she explained.
The government requires every restaurant to display the calorie count of each item!
So there you have it!
Another government conspiracy to control the minds and actions of the American people!
Which got me to thinking about corresponding Bible verses. I’m still doing my research, so you’ll have to wait for the final verdict. In the meantime …
Proverbs 22 “Put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony.” Hmm. I think I’ll pass on that one!
To be continued. In the meantime, here are blessings to all and the recommendation to eat at home.

PS I think that verse means just cut out overeating. Hyperbole, you know. God seemed to like a good figure of speech.
