LET THE BLOGGING BEGIN!
Most every endeavor has an inspirational moment when one thinks, “Aha! I have a great idea!”
My blogging, not so much. Initially, it was to attract an audience for my books. But my real beginnings for writing does have a neat backstory. I was writing to our great nephew and his unit who were stationed in Cameroon. I introduced my husband and me to them early on to explain my penchant for writing.
Ronald is a retired English teacher. He never graduated from Sophomore English for 34 years. I taught music off and on through the years, but my favorite gig was homebound tutor for Lincoln-Way High School in New Lenox, Illinois. Now Ronald gardens, I teach a few lessons, and spend many hours of my time vacuuming and mopping my white floors. In what universe did I think that was a good idea when we remodeled?
Anyway, my other gig until my mom moved in with us was teaching 4-6 year olds on Wednesday night church. Because my name is quite a mouthful for that age, they called me Grammie. As part of that responsibility, I also wrote letters to parents that explained the lesson for the evening, gave parenting tips, and wrote how the latest disaster in my life could be skewed into a spiritual teaching moment. I called these my Grammie Rants. Who knew my inability to follow a recipe was deeply seated in a rebellious spirit? Or my inability to follow a reasonable financial budget during my misspent young adulthood would pave the way for my rants about overspending?
I miss the study I did for the class and the opportunity to write, but I had to quit the class because it was a night class. After running over the curb at Walmart 3 times within 90 seconds, I decided maybe I shouldn’t be driving at night. But who in their right minds puts curbs in the middle of a parking lot?
When the unit returned to the States, my writing stopped. When my class stopped, so did my parent letters. I missed writing so I decided to share my thoughts via a blog. Of course, what I write about isn’t the serious stuff of most blogs, but hey! I’m having fun. I hope you do too as you follow along.
Blessings

My favorite Bible verse about driving reminds me of me!
2 Kings 9:20 The driving is like Jehu for he drives furiously!
Thanks to Brian Norris of Brown’s Alignment for letting me use the picture. The email permission was hysterical.
“That picture was from the first day I tried to teach my Golden Retriever to drive. He has gotten much better since then. I attached blocks to his feet so he can reach the pedals better, we are still trying to solve that opposable thumb thing, that really gives him fits on turns. :)”
